Michelle Frick

I'm a published, award winning photographer, and I'd love to work with YOU! I’ve always loved photography. As a child who moved frequently, images were my way to hold onto treasured memories of people and places that I had to leave behind. Pictures meant a lot to me growing up, but now, as a mother, images really mean the world to me. I have learned, through watching my children grow and change, that every moment is special, and each chapter in a child’s life is fleeting. Do not blink, or you might just miss something! I enjoy working with friends and families to help them create special images. I love taking part in the process of compiling family histories. My style involves building a rapport with my clients to coax out real moments and emotions. Classic portraits are a wonderful thing, and I will work to get you some of each style. On a personal level though, I adore the images that allow people’s true selves to shine through. "A smile is a curve that sets everything straight." ~Phyllis Diller

We’ve Got Spirit

Okay, so sometimes getting kids to cooperate for the camera can be tricky.  And, since I just like to see them as they are, so that’s really okay most of the time.  This, however, was totally different – talk about liking to POSE!  Cheerleaders have NO trouble at all in front of the camera.  Check out these sweet little divas in all their glory!  Not even the heat or bright sunlight could deter these happy girls!

The Falcons football team is a lucky bunch because this crew and their coaches are a bundle of FUN, and they’ve got SPIRIT!!!

9/11

Frick Family Portrait 2010

Remembering 9/11…
I was sitting in my newly built house, pregnant (and hormonal I might add) with my daughter blissfully unaware and watching Disney Channel (which doesn’t interrupt programming with bad news thankfully) when my sister-in-law called me in a panic. I’m an Air Force brat, and as such, I’m pretty composed, realizing that the likelihood of tanks in the street is something we are lucky enough not to face in our country. However, when the second plane hit, and I watched the towers fall my heart stopped. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I didn’t want to believe what I was seeing. And, when the Pentagon was hit, it really brought it home to me. That’s the central location of our nation’s defenses. I used to run those halls when I’d go to work with my father as a child. I knew that building. And, to think it could be hit as well…I’m forever grateful to the brave people on the fourth plane who were able to keep it from it’s final destination, and who so bravely gave their lives knowing full well what was happening by that point – which, in my mind is unimaginable. I’m tearing now just thinking about it.
Of course the phone lines were a mess. My husband was out of town on business – not ideal (remember – pregnant and hormonal from earlier). He was in Detroit – which, apparently has a large number of people who were literally cheering in the streets. That made no sense to me – how could people in our own country be cheering for such a horrific act?
Drew’s (my husband) company immediately made arrangements to get them out of Detroit to a suburb, but it was still so frightening. And, it was several days (as we all recall) before he could travel and get home to us.
Again, I am grateful to have grown up military – although I was shocked and devastated that these acts occurred on our soil, I knew that our gov’t would take immediate action to protect us, and to keep us from further harm. Perhaps I’m still a bit naively optimistic, but I prefer to believe that there is much more good in this world than evil. And, I prefer to think that the desperate acts of madmen only strengthened our resolve to make our country a safe haven for those who believe in the rights of all people. Yes, they took our innocence, but no they cannot break our will or our unity. Instead, what they did was to bring our nation together again and to remind us of our core values. I just hope we never forget.

Sweet Naomi

Our sweet little Miss Naomi is getting so big! And, she finally is willing to give up a few smiles for her Aunt Shell. No matter what she does, she’s ADORABLE! She has this cute little tongue twistie thing she does, and I can just see that brain of hers working its magic. This little one has lots on her mind, and I don’t think it’s going to be too long before she lets us all in on some of her thoughts! Meanwhile…just soak up this cuteness!!!!

Baby Alexis – 4 Days New

Welcome to the World Baby Alexis!!!

Look at those big bright eyes!! No one tell her that newborns are supposed to sleep away the day – there’s too much to see!

Alexis and her stuffed puppy dog.

Took awhile, but she finally got sleepy.

Such an angel!

Today I had the honor of meeting and spending the afternoon with Sweet Little Baby Alexis. She’s been sleepy (I’m told) – that was, until I came to visit – then she was wide awake and raring to go. We worked around her schedule, and she was just a precious and priceless and she could be! She put up with multiple outfit changes and changes of venue. Alexis had Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, and her photographer (me) wrapped around her tiny (but long) little fingers.

Welcome to the world baby girl! It’s a pleasure to know you!!

Sneak Peek: Claire’s 5th Birthday

What could be sweeter than a tower of cupcakes?

Perhaps granddaughters squeezing in with their Grandpa!

Or sisters showing that they love each other!

The birthday girl on Mama’s lap

And, sweetest of all – kisses for Mama!

Thank you girls for letting me join in the princess-y fun!

Sneak Peek…Staci Munir will plan your child’s party down to the very last detail! Check out her site (link above) and see what she can do for you! Or…to see some of her parties – go to my site, www.michellefrick.com and look for the “Save the Date” galleries. Today, she threw a beautiful princess extravaganza for sweet little Claire! Cooper at 6 Months

My hubby took one look at the top shot, smiled and said – “Ninja Baby.” Sort of cracked me up – Cooper is such a strong, sturdy, and sweet, smiley little guy! I couldn’t have asked for a happier little guy to take pictures of today.

TGIF everyone – hope this little man can bring a smile to your face too!!!

Baby Mia – 7 Months

Just two quick peeks to give you an inkling into how sweet little Miss Mia is, and how much she’s grown! If there’s a way to tell how quickly time passes…I’m thinking it must be by watching a baby change into a little person right before your eyes. Just a few short months ago, when I met Mia, she was this tiny little sleepy girl, and now she’s getting up on all fours and getting ready to roll! She goes more backwards than forward now with her crawl, but I think she’s going to get the knack pretty quickly. Watch out then world because Mia is a girl who knows what she likes!!

Enjoy the sneak peeks!

Denny Boy

So cute, just had to share a few more…and still more to edit! Will I ever catch up? Oh well, at least I know what I’m doing tomorrow – EDITS! Smiles to all!!

Sneak Peek of OJ

At 2, this little guy is affectionately (I promise) called, “the terrorist” by his Daddy! We started our session in the studio, and we tried to keep him entertained and contained, but he clearly knew he was in charge of this show! And, with those huge brown eyes, who could deny him anything?
Tickles from Daddy
See…we even put him in a box to try to keep him from escaping!
Smiles for Daddy!
What a face!!!!
Thanks Omar, Edith and OJ for making my Monday so much fun! Smiles to you all!
